Indian on the menu

Residential Care
Chicken curry, cardamom rice pudding, mango lassi and carrot burfi – you won’t find this combination on your average aged care residence menu.
But last week, Noble Park Community had the opportunity to see these Indian delicacies prepared up close and taste them at a Uniting AgeWell cooking demonstration.
Ahead of the event, residents and families were asked to send in their favourite Indian recipes, with the main dish submitted by a family member whose mother-in-law passed down the recipe.
Resident Chef Sarah Friedrich, who has worked at the residence for six years, stepped out of the kitchen for the event to showcase her international cooking skills.
She prepared the chicken curry and rice pudding in front of the audience and talked about the spices used in the dishes.
The cooking demonstration came after Noble Park Community celebrated Indian Independence Day on 15 August. To mark the occasion, staff dressed in traditional Indian garb and entertained residents and visitors with a Bollywood dance performance.
