Masterclass in the spotlight again

The outstanding Masterclass 2017 has again been recognised by judges, earning Uniting AgeWell a spot among finalists for an ACSA Aged Care Award.

The Hotel Services Team initiative – which was also a finalist for LASA’s 2018 Excellence in Age Services Team Award – was recognised under the Aged Care Innovation in Service or Design Award category.

The award recognises a program, project or initiative that shows originality to improve the lives of older Australians.

Masterclass 2017 saw chefs battle it out in the kitchen and receive advice from top Australian chefs as part of moves to improve the overall dining experience for residents across the organisation.

Chefs were inspired to create nutritious, restaurant-quality meals that would become regular dishes for all residents to enjoy.

As a result, complaints about food have decreased dramatically and the Masterclass has been integrated into the regular training calendar.

The winner will be announced at an award ceremony in Melbourne on Wednesday, 18 July.
