UA finalist in Tasmanian community awards

Uniting AgeWell has been named a finalist in the Employer Excellence in Aged Care category of the Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards.

The Award, part of the 2016 Tasmanian Community Achievement Awards, recognises and acknowledges aged care facilities, organisations, not-for-profits and businesses making a positive difference in the industry.

The award is given to an organisation with a strong focus on staff engagement, safety and wellbeing, training and providing staff with higher education learning opportunities and development.  It also recognises the provision of quality services for clients and residents.

Acting General Manager Tasmania Jane Johnston said UA was extremely humbled to be a finalist.

“Aged care can be a demanding but also rewarding area to work.  Our staff are committed to providing the highest quality care and support to clients, striving to make a difference every day,” she said.

“Being a finalist is testimony to the great work our staff do, and how they make a positive difference to the lives of Tasmanian seniors every day.”

Jane said the award acknowledge the organisation’s commitment to the community, such as developing staff through education and training, working towards being recognised as a White Ribbon organisation and gaining a Rainbow Tick.

UA has over 760 employees across Tasmania, providing residential and community services to more than 1000 clients.

The Award will be presented at a Gala dinner in Hobart on November 5.
