Uniting Agewell Care

Your home, away from home

Caring for those who care

Caring for a loved one can be challenging at any time, yet these past months have been particularly difficult for many families dealing with the impact of COVID-19 restrictions and social isolation requirements to keep their loved one safe.

It has been even more difficult for seniors living alone at home, feeling isolated from their family, friends and community. And for some, it has had a detrimental impact on their overall health and wellbeing and their capacity to either continue in their caring role or to maintain their independence at home.

Respite care at a Uniting AgeWell aged care residence can make a positive difference.

Respite Stay Package

Uniting AgeWell has introduced a special Respite Stay Package, which provides a three week stay for the cost of just two weeks.

  • All respite clients have full access to the quality care and amenities offered at Uniting AgeWell residences including 24/7 registered nurses and skilled care staff, vibrant lifestyle and activities program, chef-prepared meals, and access to allied health services.
  • This special package is available for all respite stays made between 1 November 2020 and 31 January 2021.
  • Available at all Victorian residences and Rosetta Community, Strathaven in Tasmania.

How much does it cost?

The cost of residential respite care at Uniting AgeWell is based on 85% of the single person rate of the basic age pension and all respite customers are asked to pay this fee. The Basic Daily Care Fee is calculated daily, and you pay the Fee for every day that you are in an aged care home – from the day your care starts, to the day your care ends.

This special Respite Stay Package waives the Basic Daily Care Fee for the third week of respite booked.

If you extend your respite stay you will be required to pay the Basic Daily Care Fee for the extended respite period.

However, if you only stay for two weeks, you will be required to pay the Basic Daily Care Fee for that two week period.

Why choose residential respite care?

A short-term respite stay enables carers to take a break from their caring role, recharge and refresh, and for the older person to also have a break in routine, enjoy a new environment and the company of others.

Respite stays are also extremely beneficial for people recovering from a hospital procedure, who need extra care and support before returning home.

We’ve found that having experienced the quality of care, amenities and the welcoming and friendly environment of an AgeWell residence, many respite clients choose to continue on as permanent residents.
