A day out at the Cottage Club Fair
Tuesday 14 March 2017
Seniors at Uniting AgeWell Cottage Club are raising money and giving back to the community with a fun-packed Cottage Club Fair in Mornington.
The inaugural market fair on Saturday, March 25, from 10am – 2pm, promises to be a fun day for the whole family, featuring stalls selling everything from fresh produce, clothing, books and products, to activities including palm reading, live music and a children’s play maze.
Southern Tasmania Community Services Coordinator Lee Marsh said the fair was a special fundraising event organised by clients at the Cottage Club who wanted to give back to the community.
“Uniting AgeWell Cottage Club provides social support programs for seniors who are socially or financially disadvantaged,” she said. “It enables clients to meet and socialise with others through enjoyable activities that aim to maintain physical and emotional wellbeing.
“Our clients are always looking at ways to contribute to the community, and have worked extremely hard in preparing for the fair, baking cakes, making jams, gathering clothes and other items for sale.”
Lee said the fair would also include a sausage sizzle, Devonshire Tea, Cindy’s Sundaes, palm reading and live music with the Grey Nomad.
“It’s the perfect way for families to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday, all for a good cause,” she said.
“Funds raised will go towards activities at The Cottage Club, and charities close to our clients’ hearts, including the RSPCA and the Cancer Council of Tasmania.”
