Christmas in July event to trigger positive memories in seniors
July 22, 2016
Uniting AgeWell Noble Park Community will be transformed into a winter wonderland as residents, clients and volunteers celebrate Christmas in July with Frosty the snowman, Rudolf the reindeer, pudding and festive cheer.
Lifestyle Activity Officer Mary Sincock says this is the first time in recent years the Noble Park Community has held Christmas in July celebrations on its site.
“Our lifestyle events are becoming increasingly popular with residents and community clients so we’re going all out and holding one big event to involve all residents and clients.” she said.
“It will be a truly spectacular event with lots of families and volunteers getting involved.”
Residents and clients will get creative in their Christmas costumes, enjoy a special Christmas-themed two course lunch and entertainment from music and comedy act, Robert & Roger.
The event will be held on Wednesday, July 27.
Mary says the Noble Park Community is culturally diverse and many residents and clients come from countries where Christmas is celebrated during the colder months.
“Celebrating Christmas in July is not only a fun activity that provides residents and clients a winter feel to Christmas, it also stimulates and triggers positive memories for many,” she said.
“The decorations, food and entertainment all stimulate the various senses and encourage conversations and discussions.”
Media are invited to attend the event.
