Seniors stop traffic for Launceston women, children

Sunday 25 June 2017
Uniting AgeWell Aldersgate Kings Meadows residents and community clients will be out in force to raise funds for Launceston Women’s Shelter Magnolia Place this Thursday, July 27.

The not-for-profit aged care community is holding a sausage sizzle at the Five Ways in Kings Meadows – 12 – 22 Hobart Road, from 11.30am – 1.30pm.

Staff are dressing up for the occasion and singer Adam Page will entertain all those who stop by.

Uniting AgeWell Diversional Therapist Karen Robinson said the idea for the fundraiser came from the residents, who wanted to assist Launceston women in need.

“Any money we raise will go to help Magnolia Place continue its work,” she said.

“Magnolia Place plays a very important part in assisting women and children who may be homeless or escaping domestic violence.”

The shelter provides 24 hour support with specialist staff who work individually with women while they are seeking care and support.

The fundraising event is also being supported by local shops Nu Bake and Bevan Lee’s Butchery.
