It's time to care about aged care

Monday, 15 February marked the launch of “It’s time to care about aged care”, a vitally important national campaign focussed on bringing about long overdue reforms in aged care.

The campaign is being organised by six aged care industry peak bodies, including UnitingCare Australia – of which Uniting AgeWell is a member – known as the Australian Aged Care Collaboration.

As a nation, we have spent more than two decades looking at how to fix our aged care system. With the Royal Commission set to deliver a historic set of recommendations at the end of February, we can’t let this opportunity pass us by.

Over a generation, the needs and expectations of our ageing parents and grandparents – and those who care for them – have exceeded the resources made available to them.

The Australian Government must commit to comprehensive reform of the aged care system so all older Australians are supported and enabled to live their lives with dignity.

It’s time for change. It’s time to fight for a world-class, rights-based aged care system that meets the needs of older Australians now and into the future, and we need your help.

Every member of the Uniting AgeWell family is encouraged to show your support for the campaign and sign the petition calling on your local federal Member of Parliament to take action. You can find out more at CareAboutAgedCare.org.au

Share the link to the website with your family and friends and your social networks, and ask them to sign the petition as well.

Having a groundswell of support from across the community may finally bring about the change we all want and need.

Uniting AgeWell will be actively supporting the campaign over the coming months.

Please show your support. Sign the petition now at www.CareAboutAgedCare.org.au
