Easter wishes to you all

An Easter message from Uniting AgeWell Director of Mission, Rev Clare Brockett.

You may know of Good Friday and Easter Sunday as marking the death of Jesus and the resurrection of Christ. The Bible, a collection of stories told by different authors and written in different times, tells us several versions of these stories.

In our families we all remember family stories differently depending on a number of factors. The way biblical stories are told and the way we hear them also depends on a variety of factors, including historical and cultural contexts.

Across Uniting AgeWell on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, there will be a number of people reflecting on the death of Jesus, and the celebration of new life in the Risen Christ. The way you express your faith, and the value of your faith will vary according to; who you are, what has shaped your life, and the language you use to talk about God, Jesus, and communities of faith.

For all who follow a Christian belief, may this time of deep reflection, stillness, and hope found in the God of unexpected surprises, nourish you and bring light to the world. To all who follow other traditions or hold secular belief, may you be a community of open-hearted listeners at this time and acknowledge the significance of faith for the people around you.
