International Women's Day 2024

On International Women's Day and every day in many ways, women employed by Uniting AgeWell are making a difference to people’s lives.

This is an opportunity to recognise the impact of valued members of the Uniting AgeWell team and to re-affirm our commitment to providing truly inclusive career pathways.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #InspiringInclusion.

Linked to a day that has historically championed women’s rights, we are invited to imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Reflecting our core value of Inclusion, today we’re sharing insight from women making a difference to the lives of people as they age, through their varied roles with Uniting AgeWell.

With over 78 per cent of our workforce identifying as female, women are making an impact everyday through their careers with Uniting AgeWell.

Sagun has been at Uniting AgeWell Sorell Community Ningana for over a year now and says she opted to work in aged care because of the ongoing holistic care she can provide to residents.

“In a hospital setting, patients come in and get discharged once they are better – you don’t have time to get to know them,” Sagun explains.

“When you are away from everyone that you know and love, it is important to be able to have the opportunity to establish ongoing relationships with residents.”

Sagun is also delighted that Nepali is the fastest growing migrant community in Australia and Nepali is the second most widely spoken language in Tasmania.
